BRED STEWARDED WELCOMED PASSED ON
Springcart began as part of Wellanbah, a 3,600-acre station established in the early 1900s. The line from then to now runs through six generations and one remarkable act of trust.
Wellanbah was established by James Blaxland, grandson of explorer Gregory Blaxland, one of the three men who first crossed the Blue Mountains in 1813. James moved his family to the Limbri-Weabonga Valley to raise them in the old farming tradition. A photograph from around 1920 shows him with his children and their Clydesdale: a working farm, already.
James's son Greg inherited Wellanbah and farmed it alone well into his eighties. He still mustered on horseback when most men his age had long stopped. Greg had no children of his own, so when he could no longer work the land, it went to auction.
It was bought by Grant and Leigh Ann Sweetman, who had spent years visiting and helping on Wellanbah. Greg had come to think of the Sweetman kids as his own. He was glad, by all accounts, to see his country go to people he trusted to farm it the right way.
In 2008, Wellanbah was subdivided. The parcel that became Springcart Farm went to Grant Sweetman and his wife Purna. They built new paddocks, raised a two-storey homestead, and ran the farm until 2023, when health forced their hand.
They sold to Grant's sister Sara, her husband Paul, and their son Brayden Rumble. The farm did not leave the family.
The Rumbles run Springcart today. Their other children, Tristan, Lockie and Caileigh, visit often and lend a hand. In 2022, Tristan married his childhood sweetheart Brittany in front of the farmhouse, with the reception held in the wool shed. Another generation, another memory made on the same ground.
Docile stock is the result of consistent, quiet work, not luck.
We document sire and dam lines, record birth weights, and sell stock honestly: what the animal is, what it's suited to, and what it isn't.
We manage it to last another century: rotational paddocking, minimal inputs, no shortcuts.
That doesn't change.
Every animal on Springcart is halter-friendly, handled from birth, and sold with honest paperwork. We don't sell animals we wouldn't keep ourselves.

Miniature Galloways are one of the oldest British breeds scaled down for modern hobby farms and lifestyle blocks. Our herd has produced 100 percent calf rates with small birth weights and no calving difficulty. Even the bull was hand-fed.
Whole herd — $6,700 for a quick sale. Four cows aged two to five years (more than likely in calf), two bull calves at approximately six months. Strong chance of belted calves given the sire history. Worth over $9,000 sold separately. The honest reason: it's dry and we need the room. The right buyer gets an established, pedigree Miniature Galloway foundation at a genuine discount.

Alongside the breeding herd, Springcart runs a menagerie of retired, rescued and just-because animals. They are part of what the farm is.
Kath and Kim arrived as a pair, which felt right. The two dromedary camels have established themselves as the farm's most-photographed residents and the most opinionated animals in any paddock. They are friendly. They are also camels, so "friendly" comes with caveats.
Jet and Darcy are donkey brothers, reliable presences at the fence whenever someone walks past with something that might be food. Quinn is a retired pacer who has discovered that grass tastes better when you don't have a job. Buddy, an ex-thoroughbred, agrees. Willow, an Australian Stock horse, still has opinions about when the day should start.
Donkeys — brothers
Jet: optimist. Darcy: realist. Both reliable at the fence.

Farm visits by appointment
The animals are used to visitors. The visitors usually want to stay.
A working farm has its own rhythm. These are the moments that sit between the breeding records and the sale listings: the ordinary days that add up to a life on the land.
Families, school groups and homeschool families are all welcome. Springcart runs farm visits by appointment.
The Northern Tablelands are about five hours from Sydney. Tamworth is the nearest regional centre, about 74 kilometres to the north. Walcha is 54 kilometres to the south. Weabonga is off Thunderbolts Way, and the drive in reminds you why people come.
Springcart welcomes farm visits for families, school groups and homeschool families. You will meet the alpacas, the Black Angus mob, the Miniature Galloways and the goats. You will probably also meet Kath and Kim, the camels, whether you planned to or not.
School excursions are booked in advance. We can talk through curriculum links for primary and secondary groups, appropriate group sizes, and what the day looks like.
Apsley Falls and Oxley Wild Rivers National Park are within an hour of the farm. The Tamworth Country Music Festival runs each January and draws visitors from across the country — the farm is a natural add-on for those staying in the region.
Springcart Farm is in Weabonga NSW 2340, in the Walcha Shire of the Northern Tablelands. We are about 74km southeast of Tamworth and 54km south of Walcha — roughly five hours drive from Sydney.
Yes. We welcome farm visits and educational experiences for families, school groups and individual buyers. Visits are by appointment so we can give you a proper tour. Phone Springcart Farm on 0413 081 991 or email springcart.farm@outlook.com to book.
We do. Alpacas are herd animals, so we always sell in pairs (minimum two). All our alpacas are halter-trained, vaccinated and come with a PIC tag. We mentor every new owner through husbandry — it is part of how we have run Springcart Farm for over 100 years.
We run a Black Angus stud and a small herd of Miniature Galloways. Black Angus suits commercial graziers and family farms wanting hardy, productive cattle bred for the Northern Tablelands climate. Miniature Galloways are ideal for hobby farms, lifestyle blocks and acreages where a smaller, gentler breed is wanted.
Yes, we host school excursions for primary and high-school groups. Children meet the alpacas, cattle, miniature cows and goats, and learn how a working family farm operates. Bookings are essential — contact us at springcart.farm@outlook.com to discuss curriculum links and group sizes.
Miniature Galloway prices vary with age, sex, colour and registration. We sell on application — phone 0413 081 991 to discuss what is currently available and get an honest price for the animal that suits you.
This is a working farm with livestock in all paddocks. Discuss it with us when you book — we need to know before your visit. Dogs must be on a lead at all times and kept well away from the animals. We reserve the right to ask dogs to stay in the vehicle if there are welfare concerns for the livestock.
Phone or email is fine. If we're out in the paddock when you call, leave a message and we'll get back to you the same day.
Paul and Sara answer personally.
